Spinal Health Exercises
As any chiropractor will tell you, 'a healthy spine is a well-aligned spine'.
Here are two simple Spinal Health exercises that gently re-align the spinal column.
1. Spinal Side to Side Swivel

Stand shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
Begin to rotate the hips and the shoulders side to side, turning completely to each side.
Keep the arms loose and relaxed and let the arms sway and swing around the body.
Take your time to get the movement right and the momentum going.
Once you feel that you are turning sufficiently to each side, lift up the heel that you are turning away from, to get a deeper twist.
The spinal column will begin to re-align itself after a few swings. Keep it up for 2 minutes.
2. Back Roll
You probably used to do this one as a kid.
The back roll is excellent for the spine. It gently massages the muscles along the spinal column and adjusts minor misalignment in the spine.
Begin on your back, with the knees pulled up. Keep the head lifted and the chin tucked.
Be careful in the beginning. Begin with a few side to side rolls.
Then, start rocking up and down and get the momentum going as if you were to roll up to a seated position.
Continue for 30-60 seconds.
CAUTION: Use a soft surface such as carpet or a yoga mat. Do not roll on the hard wood floor please!
CONTRAINDICATION: spinal injuries, osteoporosis
